Heat the olive oil in a large pot.
Add the onion and cook until translucent. Season with salt and pepper. (I usually do a two pinches of kosher salt and a 6 or so grinds of pepper)
Add all three cans of tomato products and the carton of broth.
Bring to a boil and simmer, covered, for at least ten minutes.
Add heavy cream, if using, and adjust seasonings as necessary.
Serve hot with a side of grilled cheese.
