3 Can (and 1 Carton) Tomato Soup: A So Easy Recipe
We love grilled cheese in our house. It’s one of our staples for lunch. And what is just the perfect pairing for a melty, gooey grilled cheese? Well, some homemade tomato soup of course! But, allow me to get a little real with you for a moment. If I’m going to make something from scratch for lunch, it’s gotta be easy. Or else, it ain’t happening. Especially with three hungry boys and especially one hungry momma. This is an easy recipe, trust me.
But before I dive into the recipe, let me tell you why I love it.
Why I Love This Tomato Soup Recipe
- I made it up. This is a pretty lame reason to love it, but I rarely ever make anything up. So I’m proud to have the two or so recipes that are actually my own creating.
- It uses whole cans and cartons. I am so not a fan of using half a can or a tablespoon of a can or 2 cups of a carton. What am I supposed to do with the rest?!?! Ideally, I would have the perfect meal plan that would call for the unused portion of those cans and cartons, but let’s be honest. I put it in my fridge to rot. Please tell me I’m not alone.
- It actually tastes pretty good. I’ve made this for my family several times as well as some friends, and it’s generally well received (well received if you don’t count my soup-hating five-year-old).
- You can add cream if you want. I love heavy cream. It’s my boo. But really, creamy soups have a special place in my heart. So the fact that this soup tastes great with a splash of cream just suits my fancy so very well.
So with a few ingredients and minimal work, you can be quickly on your way to some homemade soup sure to please.
