Merry Candy Cane Mice
These sweet little mice are would look cute atop a gift, or you can make a bunch to hand out to your child’s teachers or friends.
Materials:
- Red felt
- Green felt
- Googly eyes
- Green pom-pom
- Candy Canes
Instructions:
Cut a teardrop-shaped piece of green felt. I based its size on the size of the candy cane. I wanted to make sure the mouse wasn’t too big for its tail! Near the center, cut two parallel slits about 1/2 long and 1/2 inch apart. For a pair of ears, cut a 5 inch long rounded bow-tie shape from red felt.
Slide the ears through the slits in the body. Glue on the eyes and pom-pom nose (we used tacky glue). Lastly, add a curly tail by slipping the candy cane between the body and the ears.
Squeak squeak! Aren’t I sweet!?!
This would make a good tree ornament too. Mr. Mouse can hang from it’s tail. My sister-in-law sometimes has chocolates hidden on the tree and you get to eat them when you take the tree down. But I can’t eat chocolate, so this would be a nice substitute. And it would be a fun tradition for grade school children who are old enough to help remove ornaments to get a candy cane at the end.
