Pley – a toy rental service that makes a great gift!
If your house is anything like my house, you look around this time of year and think, “Where am I going to put any more toys? This house is full!” Now I love buying my kids new things to play with as much as the next person, but I really don’t enjoy tripping over them in the middle of the night, feeling like I’ve wasted my money when they only get played with for a few short days, or seeing expensive Lego sets simply sit on a shelf after being put together. Pley, a subscription toy rental service, does a great job helping to solve these issues.
Pley specializes in building-type toys, like Legos, K’nex, as well as some new Robotic toys. Parents sign up for the subscription level that best meets their needs, or others can give a child a subscription as a gift (starting at $19.99 a month for a six month subscription). We got to try out Pley for free and found it really easy to use!
First I created a Pley account and checked what type of building sets my kids would be interested in (like Minecraft and police themed Legos). Next, Pley made a suggestion about what Lego set they could send out. My son wasn’t real interested in the one they had selected so he looked through the list of almost 100 options (you can imagine how long that took!) until he found the one he wanted. After that the boys selected a couple of favorites, which we marked with a yellow star, so that we could find them easily next time.
We selected our first set on Wednesday night and our Pley package arrived the following Thursday. It had a fun Lego bracelet inside, a neat poster, and of course the Lego set we had requested. The boys got to work right away putting together their new Minecraft Lego set. They had a ton of fun! We kept the set together over the weekend so they could play with it. Then, the following Monday, we took it apart, placed the pieces back in the bag, put it back in the box with the return shipping label attached, and left it for the mail carrier to pick up. The next day I got an email from Pley saying that we could select a new toy since our return was on it’s way back to them.
While I’m glad that we have Lego sets that are ours to keep, and that the kids can use them to build really creatively, I also think Pley offers a great service. The kids get the fun of picking out new things, the anticipation of waiting for the special blue package, and the thrill of completing a new project! A subscription to Pley would be a great addition to any holiday gift list!
*I was offered a free three month trial of Pley in exchange for my honest review.
Love this service! So much fun to get to play with new toys without the mess.
