Lions and Tigers and Bugs- Oh My!
Rainy days.
I can choose to love ’em or hate ’em.
I choose love by arming myself with lots of art supplies, craft kids, a movie for the afternoon JUST IN CASE, and prayer. Because. Well. You know.
Saturday was all rain and no play (outside) here in Madison, so while Asante was gone for the day, the girls and I dug into three of Fibre-Craft’s Creative Hands kits- Zoo 2 Do, the Creative Fun Tote, and Paper Pals.
Zoo 2 Do
Zoo 2 Do (ages 6+, $12.99) is a kit filled with the items needed to make a wide variety of zoo animals in the forms of paper bag puppets, pencil toppers, pom pom animals and anything else you all can dream up. For the kiddos who like following directions and making something pre-planned, they include a set of directions for about 25 crafts. For the kids who don’t, throw away the directions before they see it and have them go to town!
My girls can go either way, but both decided for the first go-around to do something on the directions.
Creative Fun Tote
The Creative Fun Tote (ages 6+, $12.99) is less themed and more in the vein of “let your imagination wander.” Directions are still included if that’s your child’s cup of tea. Aly chose to make a really fun princess pencil topper out of a styrofoam ball, some yarn, a pipe cleaner and a few sequins. Whatcha think?
Paper Pals Bugs and Flowers
Even when we can’t go outside, we can bring a little of the outdoors in. Paper Pals, Bugs and Flowers (ages 6+, $12.99) was the girls’ favorite, hands-down. It’s also the kit that required more help from me. It included templates to make butterflies, bees, ladybugs, spiders and a whole slew of flowers from paper plates, paper cups, precut foam, and straws.
In each section, I offered a picture of what comes in the kit because for some of you, one of these kits may not really be worth it. You have all of the materials already in your craft closet and would just be paying for a one page instruction sheet. For others of you, the idea of a craft store makes you shudder and would agree that this is a small price to pay for someone else doing the gathering of craft supplies for you.
Overall, these kits were well made and super fun for the girls and there is still a ton of fun to be had (good thing too- Thursday looks like it’s going to be another stormy day!).
For more information, you can check out Fibre-Craft on FB or Twitter. These kits are available at Meijer, Kroger, and sometimes Zulily!
