Father’s Day Grilling Aprons
Good thing our dads don’t read the blog.
This year, we’ve made them some grilling aprons.
- a white apron
- cardboard cereal box
- exacto knife
- multi-purpose paint
My dad likes to laugh and appreciates puns. We decided to make him an apron that has a picture of a gorilla’s face with the words “Mad Grilla” underneath…. Get it? 🙂 We made Jake’s dad an apron with a picture of a deer…. “Yes, deer” (snicker, snicker).
So first, we printed a couple stencils off from the Free Stencil Gallery. It was too small, so we needed to enlarge it.
We grid the paper in .5″ by .5″ squares. We grid the flattened cardboard cereal box with .75″ by .75″ boxes. Then, we freehanded the picture, square by square, to make the picture 1 and a half times larger.
Then, we cut out the stencil from the cardboard box.
Finally, we placed the stencil on the white apron (be sure to measure to make sure it’s even), held it down, and painted! Jake did a little shading with the paint of the Mad Grilla.
