An Idea for Summer Online Learning (and Fun)!
This summer begins this week.
I’m so excited for the kids to be out of school. We’re done with school. Let’s just all be home together for awhile.
While we’ll be doing lots of unstructured things, we will also be doing some school-ish things, like working on building and maintaining some of our math facts. Growing up, I used flashcards to practice math facts, and because that’s super boring, I’ve been hunting for some fun ways to change it up!
Together, we’ve been using some of the geography games to quiz ourselves on our country names. We’re learning the countries together this summer (I’m working on a post for the end of the month about how we’ll be doing that), as well as the states. There are some games that make the quizzing part more fun.
Aly’s been stuck in the cooking section, because if she can’t cook in real life, then the second best thing to cook virtually. 🙂 The educational sections are a bit too “educational” for her liking (and a bit more advanced than kindergarten level), so I’ve been letting her play around.
Head on over and check it out! My one caveat is that you should preview the games first and choose the ones you like best before sitting your child next to you. Some of the games are better than others, so it takes a bit of trial and error to find some that are right for your kiddos. There were a few on there that I thought were inappropriate for young children, so be mindful and have fun! 🙂
