Earth Day Fun
Tomorrow is Earth Day and it’s a super fun, super easy way to celebrate the many wonderful things about this great globe that we live on.
This year we’re stretching the Earth Day festivities over the span of the whole week.
On Monday, we read some books and played with an Earth Day sensory bin.
Inside the bin:
- dried black beans
- gardening tools (Dollar Store)
- garden printables
- egg carton veggies
- clay pots (Dollar Store- 3 for $1)
- plastic flowers/leaves (Dollar Store)
Today we will read more books and do a couple fun puzzles: a color by number for Ada and a seek and find for Aly and Asante. We might do a couple from the Royal Baloo’s Earth Day pack too (tots-grade 2!)
On Wednesday, we’ll be having an Earth Day party in the morning, which will include the sensory bin, books, coloring pages, as well as some Earth Day slime and a creative snack where kids will build trees from pretzel sticks and grapes.
On Thursday, more books, and weather permitting (it’s super rainy this week), we’ll be going on a Nature Scavenger Hunt.
And Friday, yet still a few more books, as well as walking around our community, picking up trash and talking about how important it is to help keep the earth clean! Even when it’s not our mess, it’s important that we do the right thing and pick up the litter!
Also, if you’re looking for more fun ideas, be sure to check out our world cake balls, tortilla snack, upcycling cereal boxes (and plastic lids), hiking tips, and our challenge to create SOMETHING (anything!) tomorrow.
