Right now we’re doing a mini-series on fun food for kids. Last week Tiffany wrote about Spinach muffins that her daughter helped make (and everyone enjoyed), and this week I’m writing about Lunch-on-a-Stick. What? Is that not a thing? Ok well now it is…
I’ll admit that for the most part I’m a “Here’s your food now eat it and don’t complain” type mom, but it’s fun to change things up every once in awhile. And I noticed that my son who usually doesn’t eat peppers didn’t seem to have a problem with about eating the peppers on his skewer.
It was pretty easy to make a complete meal. I put any pears and bananas on one skewer. Peppers and tomatoes went on another. For the last skewer I rolled up a tortilla with ham and cheese inside, the sliced it and slid the pieces on. I think the kids liked that one the best.
Of course it’s possible that their favorite part was using the skewers to conduct an orchestra or sword fight. Good thing I cut the pointy ends off. It was definitely a “play with your food” type lunch.
