I Choose Joy
Or maybe you choose contentment. Or trust. Or kindness. Or gratitude. Everyday we have the choice to let our mind go places or to stand firm in what we believe is best. We can give in to temptation to think ill of people, or to lose our temper, or to be pessimistic. OR we can decide to fight those thoughts with statements we believe and deeply desire to live by.
In our Titus group today (kinda like MOPS, but a little different), we started out our year making a little craft to aid us in this daily choice. Our theme for this year is joy, with the theme verse of Hebrews 12.1-2:
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
We decorated spiral bound index cards, and throughout the year we’re going to be writing verses, quotes, whatever that speak to our hearts about the importance of choosing joy instead of choosing the many other things that can steal joy’s place in our lives.
I’m not an artist, but this is a craft less about the cute factor, and more about the soul factor. 🙂 If you can make it cute too, though, by all means go for it!
Just a little idea to help you in your spiritual growth. Visual reminders can be incredibly helpful in fixing our minds on Jesus throughout the day!
