DIY Fairy Costume
Okay so this isn’t an entirely DIY princess fairy costume post. It’s like- go buy some Dollar Spot Fairy wings and pair it with a cute DIY wand and wala- you have a costume! 🙂
We made this wand for a fairy birthday party Aly was invited to. And if Aly makes something, you better believe Ada will be making one too :).
So, first, gather your supplies. You’ll need:
– a rectangular piece of dowel rod (what is this called? I’m sure there is a technical name for it…)
– a square piece of cardboard
– paint
– paintbrush
– ribbon
– jewel stickers
First you cut the rod to the length you want. A foot long is a good length for a wand!
Next draw a star on your piece of cardboard and cut it out! You may need to use a box cutter, depending on how thick your cardboard is. Cut out a small notch from the bottom of the star that is a hair smaller than the width of your dowel rod. You are going to fit the end of the dowel rod into this nitch, so be sure that it is snug :).
Now the kids’ turn. Break out the paints and let them go to town! Paint every side of every piece and perhaps let them do a second coat. Decorate the star with stick-on jewels (we love the ones from Oriental Trading) and add a ribbon for a final touch.
