DIY Prayer Pail
I don’t know about in your house, but in my house, our nighttime prayers seem to sound like the same thing over and over, especially from my three year old son. But I have struggled in the past with how to help him come up with something new to pray about. But now I have a tool!
Enter the prayer pail!
What you need is a pail or jar, popsicle sticks, markers, and stickers (if you want them).
You can use any kind of receptacle you want for your prayer pail, but having a pail makes the alliteration really work. I think this pail came from Target. And instead of trying to hand write “prayer pail” on the surface, I found some letter stickers in my stash and used them for this.
Then you just need to write up what will go on the sticks. I started with just ten. I didn’t want to overwhelm Sebastian with choices. But eventually, I see myself adding more of our extended family and specific friends and situations. But for the meantime, here’s what’s on our sticks.
Daddy, Our Friends, Momma, Our Neighbors, Sebastian, …
…Our Home, Elliot, Our Church, The New Baby, Our Nation.
Yep. You read that right. We are expecting our third child the beginning of December. We are excited, but we definitely need prayer. Growing families can be stressful, but wonderful. 🙂
So to use this prayer pail, I’ll have Sebastian pick one a day to pray for. As he gets older, I can see us grabbing more than one, but we’ll start of small for now. Small, but effective.
