Tissue Paper Votive Holder
I always enjoy having my boys help make seasonal decorations for us to use around the house, so this weekend I showed them how to make pretty candle holders using just tissue paper and glue as decorations! I like that these are nice to look at both when the candle is lit, and when it is not.
First, I cut different shapes from red and yellow tissue paper. I had intended to use orange as well, but alas I couldn’t find it anywhere! I just cut squares and triangles, but if you’re feeling ambitious you could cut stars, letters, polka dots, or whatever you want!
Next, mix a solution of 50% glue and 50% water. It doesn’t need to be real exact. Get paintbrushes ready for applying the glue.
To decorate the votive, brush some glue onto the glass. Press a piece of tissue paper onto the wet spot, and then brush with another layer of glue. Be careful because the wet tissue paper is fragile and can tear easily. I encouraged the boys to overlap their pieces so it would make a pretty stained glass pattern.
Insert tea lights and enjoy!
