Eat: A Man Dinner- Shrimp Fondue, Stuffed Mushrooms and Monterey Chicken
My wonderful husband just celebrated his 31st birthday, and because he’s not a gift person, I decided to make him a huge delicious meal instead. The saying, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” could not be any more true for Jake!
I started off the meal with a shrimp fondue.
When Jake and I dated in college, one of our favorite places to go was Red Lobster, and there was an amazing crab and shrimp cheesy fondue in a bread bowl that we would always order. I found this one on Pinterest and was very pleased with it! I ended up cutting the recipe in half (I wasn’t sure how it would reheat), and it was still too much for the five of us. For the record, it was just as good the next day.
Next, I brought out some stuffed mushrooms using this recipe from good ‘ol Allrecipes.

While I also really loved this, I think if it had to do it over, I would have cut back on the cheese and added in a little crumbled sausage.
For our main course, I just put together chicken breasts with BBQ sauce, bacon and cheese, which is what Jake made me the night he proposed! He first modeled it off of Monterey Chicken at Chilis, which is my absolute favorite thing to get at my favorite restaurant ever. Anyway, I digress (can you tell I’m pregnant?!) I baked the chicken straight up almost until done, then added the toppings for the last 10 minutes or so. We put a loaded baked potato on the side and it was a full meal!
