Eat: Blueberry Boy Bait
You can’t tell me you’re not curious about this one. I mean with a title like that, you know you want to know what it is.
Well, that’s how I felt about it when I stumbled across this recipe the other day. Boy bait? I’ve got to try it!
And let me tell you. It worked.
Jacob was very curious about what I was making, but I didn’t want to tell him the name. He repeatedly told me it smelled good. And when it came time to eat it, he loved it. Then I told him the name of the dessert. He said, “It worked. I want you.”
And Sebastian was pretty hooked, too. Hey, I thought it was delicious. Does that mean I’m carrying a boy? Hmmm….
So go make you some boy bait, and snag you some kisses. 🙂
Blueberry Boy Bait
from Vita Nostra
2 cups plus 1 tsp all purpose flour (I used a mix of all purpose and whole wheat pastry flour)
1 tbls baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 sticks softened butter
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups blueberries
1/2 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Use a 9×13 glass pan. Butter sides and bottom. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In a separate large bowl, blend together softened butter and the two sugars. Blend for about two minutes. Add one egg at a time, blending until incorporated. Add 1/3 of flour mixture and blend. Add 1/2 cup of milk and blend. Add another 1/3 of flour and blend. Add final 1/2 cup of milk and blend. Add final 1/3 of flour and blend. The mixture should be light and creamy and fluffy at this point.
Carefully spread mixture into the your greased pan.
Mix topping and sprinkle all over top.
Bake 45 to 50 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes. Eat warm or at room temperature.
